Why Vitamin D is Important for Girls

Friday, March 9th, 2012

Participation of children in co-curricular activities has become very much common scene nowadays and there has been in fact good amount of encouragement and motivation given by the school administration and parents. With the increasing awareness and consideration of parents towards better body fitness and robustness of their school going children, schools are also becoming well equipped with sports facilities and set-up. The equally high enthusiasm and interest in physical activities is very much visible from children as well. The huge numbers of school boys and girls in action on the school grounds reinforce this greatly.

While sports and athletic activities becoming such popular is a good thing to have, increasing number of sports injuries in the children is certainly a big area of concern. The kids of adolescent age contributing the maximum number of such cases, percentage of girls is predominantly higher. The most common of sports injuries are typically called ‘stress injury’ in medical terminology. This is the repetitive use of particular body muscles making them feeble resulting in direct impact on the bones. The other factors like hormonal imbalance or bad eating habits increase the risk factors considerably.

There has been a good amount of perception already built in our mind towards the direct correlation of calcium and its impact on bone health. But a recent study however, brings out a contradictory fact opposite to this normal belief. It reveals a sensational fact that it is Vitamin D that is more important for bone health and building of more flexible and strong bones capable enough to bear the increased pressure of sports activities. On the other hand, there was no direct relation which could establish the fact that dairy and other high calcium intake reducing the risk of fractures. The initial findings rather indicate the relation in reverse manner however yet to be established with further study and statistical analysis.

The importance of vitamin D over calcium diet is being looked into by experts in a more detailed and structured way to confirm the fact statistically. There has been a good amount of association already been apparent in the studies so far. The girls taking high Vitamin D intake are at least 50% lower risk of getting repetitive stress bone fractures as compared to those who do not. The importance of calcium in better bone health and building bone density although should not be ruled out in any way. It needs to be equally contributed by a sufficient supply of Vitamin D to ensure the complete bone health.
Girls of adolescent age have their own needs and require specific dietary advice and counseling. Awareness towards high Vitamin D intake should take precedence ensuring better health conditions and lowered risk of them being injured during sport and other activities.

Love Makes People Blind – Is this True

Monday, March 5th, 2012

Have you ever fallen deeply in love? Then, you might have felt that you have become blinded because of it. People who have fallen tend to have a personal experience with it. In fact, Shakespeare had mentioned several times in his works that loving is blinding and that lovers cannot see. However, how true is it that blinded affection will lead to a lifetime of regrets and mistakes? If you want a logical point of view, this feeling can decide to be blind but the lovers should not. The idea behind the loving is blinding does not really exist and if it does it should benefit both man and woman who is feeling it.

This emotional outburst of the heart that is uncontrollable has surely been experience by each of us at one point in our lives. But here’s the question again, if this feeling is binding, should it also be blinding? So, why there are people who choose to closed their eyes on what the world wants them to see. There is no doubt many lovers choose to become blind. The simple reason behind it is that the four kinds of love— Agape, Eros, Philia and Storge. They are all considered natural impulses of man. Once this feeling exceeds the normal boundaries of self-control, people usually find themselves trap in unhealthy relationships.

If you think about it, if this kind of affection is really blind, then we wont be wasting time and effort to build a positive image. It is our first instinct to cover up our flaws. We aim not to show all these flaws until later. This is the point when ones feelings for the other turns blind. Perhaps, some can justify that a mothers affection to her child should be blind and unconditional. That is why revealing your true self to your loved one can be a difficult challenge. However, what if they accept everything about you? It means their feelings for you have been blinded at this point.

In some cases, people who have fallen to another do not become totally blinded. They know how to handle harsh truths, negative effect and to see signs of breaking relationships like betrayal and unfaithfulness. Perhaps, you will find this comforting especially if you want to see the positive side of loving. This is the situation where ones mind takes control of the hearts emotions and commanding it to take a stop. Some call it ones wake-up call to move on from a hopeless relationship.

What is the sense of all of these? People look for pure loving and walk away from imperfection. This feeling from the heart can have many meanings because of the existence of criteria or class one is looking for. The usual process is a man and woman become physically attracted before moving to the next more intimate phase. This is also one cause of many vulnerable relationships. Indeed, finding true love nowadays can be hard. A person you worship years ago seems to be unfitting to be with you after several years. But, shouldn’t you accept everything blindly? It appears that the blindness effect is better as time passes by. We cannot command our hearts what to do. It always tells us what to instinctively say and act. Just be reminded that, there are two hearts here that should be blind enough to accept each other wholeheartedly.

Ebooks advantages and disadvantages

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

There are numerous terms that exist to describe ebooks. It basically refers to the particular methodology of reading that describes any electronic documents that are medium to longer length that are viewable onscreen. Such documents can be research papers or short stories or even magazines. But even with the growing popularity of ebooks still it is not as popular as the age old more conventional format of the book. There are several reasons that are due to the personal choice of the readers. Some feel that the smell of paper is appealing tot them and that they cannot read on screen. This refers to the tactile loss. The tactile loss argument is perhaps the most passionate and a more obvious argument. Again electronic books offer to keep any document in its library. But there are some individual that feel that they need to have the libraries that are conventional and that will eventually last forever. We are in a time that is both exciting and dull for the e-book. In some cases e-books can have the authorization to be used in more that one device. Hence there is a possibility to share an e-book. But there exist numerous formats to an e-book. And there are yet more the number of companies that set up different software for themselves. The authors and the publishers choose different types of formats and necessarily do not opt for one in particular. Therefore the readers and the buyers in the end are indeterminate to buy the e-book that has all the documents in one set format.

But there are many reasons why electronic books are so very advantageous. They are: the space saving ability, mobility of the digitized e-book, convenience and ease of its use. As the disk space continues to grow with every coming day, the sizes of the hard drives that are portable are growing bigger and bigger still. Thus within an e-book one can carry an entire library of books in ones pocket. And such a thing means one can easily access it at any time of necessity. Also electronic books can be saved with a back up. One drawback that is the burning of library and destruction of books would not occur in such a case. There is no headache as there is in keeping a physical library in terms of free space. Lots of books can be configured to ones e-book without the loss of space. Also a major advantage of e-book is that these can be carried to any place the owner of such travels. There are thousands of books that can store digitally and therefore while travelling if a book is finished then the reader can start with the next book by merely searching the contents of the library. There is also some cost effectiveness in the usage of electronic books. These can save shipment cost of conventional paper books to a great extent thereby rendering the experience of reading relatively newer books at a much reduced and affordable price.
